The Examination Procedure
During an ultrasound examination, a gel is applied to the skin over the area being examined and the probe is moved to acquire images. Depending on the clinical need, advanced modes such as Doppler flow, fetal measurements, elastography, and structured protocols may be used for higher diagnostic confidence. Most scans are completed in 15-30 minutes.
